Following the lifestyle-leaning drop from last year, 1. FC Köln and hummel return with a new special edition jersey that puts the city’s spirit at the centre. This time, the design will not remain off‑pitch only – the men’s team will debut the shirt in the Bundesliga against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, 7 March.
Design and Aesthetic
The new jersey combines quiet confidence with a modern silhouette. Sharp red pinstripes cut through a subtle grey base, finished with a classic collar. The look is elegant, unfussy, and distinctly modern – blurring the boundary between club kit and streetwear. The crest and hummel chevrons sit cleanly against the fabric, giving the design a timeless yet fresh feel that is unmistakably Köln.
Community-First Approach
In a rare gesture that underscores the project’s community-first ethos, partners REWE and DEVK stepped back from featuring their logos on the fan version of the jersey, allowing the design to breathe. FC Managing Director Philipp Liesenfeld highlighted the deeper meaning: “In Köln, football is not just a game, but a fundamental part of people’s lives… A big thank you goes to our partners REWE, DEVK and hummel, who made this special kit possible.”
From hummel’s side, Marketing Director Morten Lund explained the intention: “It stands for the genuine, unadulterated passion that defines Köln… This kit is for the city.”
Cultural Campaign
To bring the release to life, Köln turned to homegrown rap duo Lugatti & 9ine, lifelong FC supporters and staples of the city’s music scene. As the faces of the “This is for the City” campaign, the duo created an exclusive track titled “Allez”, weaving together themes of local identity, solidarity, and club pride.
Goalkeeper Kit Variant
The collection also includes a blue goalkeeper kit, switching the palette while retaining the pinstripes that tie the entire story together. Both the outfield and goalkeeper jerseys are available in short‑sleeve and long‑sleeve variants.
