A new collaboration between adidas and Pharrell Williams has brought a fresh perspective to football kits. The Humanrace project takes inspiration from iconic club histories, with each jersey hand-designed to reflect a unique moment in time. The collection was first hinted at when Paul Pogba showcased custom boots during an Instagram live stream, setting the stage for a wider release that now includes jerseys for five top European clubs.
The Humanrace Jersey Collection
The concept behind the collection challenges the idea that jersey culture is fading. Football shirts are increasingly worn as everyday fashion, not just on match days. Pharrell Williams leaned into this trend by studying the heritage of each club and selecting a pivotal era that shaped their identity. Every design in the line was executed entirely by hand, celebrating the imperfect beauty of human creativity.
Arsenal FC – The Bruised Banana Era
The Arsenal jersey in the collection reimagines the famous “bruised banana” kit worn during the 1991–93 seasons. That bold yellow-and-blue pattern remains one of the most recognizable designs in the club’s history.

Manchester United – Early 1990s Classic
Manchester United’s contribution draws from the white and bold blue kit used between 1990 and 1992. That period marked a turning point for the club and remains a nostalgic reference for supporters.

Bayern Munich – Traditional Red with Oversized Stripes
For Bayern Munich, the design goes back to the 1991–93 kit featuring the traditional red shirt with three large adidas stripes running over one shoulder and continuing onto the shorts.

Juventus – Pink Kit from a Historic Treble Season
The Juventus jersey takes inspiration from the pink shirt worn during the 2015–16 campaign. That season was a landmark for the Turin club, as they won Serie A, the Coppa Italia, and the Supercoppa Italiana.

Real Madrid – Yohji Yamamoto Dragon Design
The Real Madrid kit pays homage to the 2014–15 season jersey, which featured a dragon motif created by Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto. The black-and-white combination stands out in the collection.

The Hand-Design Philosophy
Pharrell Williams stated that looking back is essential to moving forward. The design process involved learning about each club’s most positive historical moments and translating them into modern garments. Every stitch and detail was applied by hand, reinforcing the idea that imperfection can be beautiful.
The Predator 20+ Boots
Alongside the jerseys, adidas released the Predator 20+ boots, inspired by the legendary 1998 Predator Accelerator. The design proved extremely popular, selling out worldwide within minutes of launch.
