adidas Copa19+ Laceless Leather Boot: A Modern Evolution of the Classic Silhouette

The adidas COPA series, long revered by soccer purists, has undergone a radical transformation with the introduction of the COPA 19+. This laceless leather design represents a fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary engineering, retaining the core values of the silo while pushing into new territory.

Upper Construction and Materials

adidas has maintained its classic leather treatment for the COPA 19+, using a super supple k-leather upper. The leather features a seamless and less permeable skin, with cushioned ridges across the forefoot replacing traditional stitching. This design improves waterproofing while allowing natural movement.

Fusionskin and Sockfit Collar

Moving up the boot, the leather transitions into a Sockfit collar made from Primeknit. Engineered to naturally expand with the foot shape, this collar provides a supportive fit and enables the laceless design. adidas refers to the combination of leather and Primeknit as Fusionskin.

The Purecut laceless upper removes unneeded layers to maximize the ball control area. Internal construction includes foam pads and an ortholite sockliner for cushioning and comfort.

Performance Features

Underfoot, the COPA 19+ uses a Comfortframe to stabilize movement and enhance traction. Two footshape inlays provide optimal cushioning, while the stud positioning and shape are designed to optimize rotation during quick changes of direction.

First Edition: Initiator Pack

The initial release of the COPA 19+ comes as part of the Initiator Pack, featuring a striking champagne outsole with red adidas branding and a red/white sole plate.

Juventus and Argentina striker Paulo Dybala is set to be the key player highlighting the boot. Dybala stated: “I’ve always been a fan of the COPA because of the classic look and incredible first touch. It suits my style of play and my personal style too.
