adidas Originals Partners with Someone Somewhere Again for New Mexico-Themed Lifestyle Wear

Following the launch of Mexico’s eye-catching third jersey, adidas Originals has introduced a lifestyle collection created alongside social enterprise Someone Somewhere. The range puts Mexican craftsmanship, cultural identity, and community at its centre.
Building on the success of their first collaboration in June 2024, adidas and Someone Somewhere return with a more ambitious concept. The earlier project involved artisans from Naupan in the Sierra Norte de Puebla adding handcrafted details to Mexico’s Copa América kits. This time, the partnership takes a bigger step: for the first time, these items are available for fans to buy.

Hand-Stitched Pieces with a Personal Link
Every item in the limited-edition drop is hand-stitched by rural artisans. A unique QR code is included on each garment. Scanning it reveals the face and story of the person who made the piece, adding a meaningful layer of transparency.

Someone Somewhere’s Mission
Someone Somewhere is a social enterprise that creates fair, consistent work for artisans and textile workers while prioritising environmental care. Each product is signed by its maker—where “Someone” stands for the artisan’s name and “Somewhere” refers to their home region.
The organisation works with hundreds of rural craftspeople across seven of Mexico’s poorest states. They apply traditional techniques to modern clothing and accessories, guided by a four-dimensional sustainability model: Cultural, Environmental, Social, and Economic.
Through these principles, Someone Somewhere safeguards endangered craft traditions and provides dignified jobs that improve life for artisans and their communities. The long-term goal extends beyond Mexico, aiming to reach rural artisans globally who struggle to keep their heritage alive and access fair work.

The Artisan JSY: A Lifestyle Take on the Third Kit
A standout piece in the collection is the Artisan JSY, a reimagined version of Mexico’s new third shirt. Designed for everyday wear, the jersey replaces the usual on-field silhouette with a polo collar and embroidered details. It maintains the spirit of the original kit while becoming a wearable cultural statement.
The focus remains firmly on the makers. Every garment includes a QR code that shares the artisan’s identity and story, reinforcing authenticity and human connection in an industry often defined by anonymity.
The collection is built to express Mexican pride beyond the stadium, seamlessly linking sport with culture, heritage, and handcrafted skill.

Voices from the Partnership
“What began as an idea that connected with thousands of people continues to evolve,” said Antonio Nuño, CEO and co‑founder of Someone Somewhere. “This year, together with adidas, the vision goes even further: we are expanding the reach of artisanal handiwork so more people can wear pieces that represent the talent, identity, and pride of our communities at such a relevant time for Mexico.”
Nuño also underlined the collaboration’s wider impact: “This collaboration sets a precedent for the global fashion industry, proving it is possible to integrate artisanal value chains into the production systems of global brands.”
By combining adidas Originals’ global reach with Someone Somewhere’s community-driven craftsmanship, the collection goes beyond a simple fashion release. It becomes a blueprint for how sport, culture, and ethical production can coexist and thrive on the world stage.
