adidas has introduced the X Crazyfast+ STRUNG, a football boot that brings a groundbreaking upper technology originally developed for running into the soccer world. The boot features a precision-engineered textile upper created by advanced robotic machinery, combining targeted yarn placement for support and flexibility without material waste.
The Strung Technology: From Running to Football
The Strung approach first appeared in the adidas Futurecraft Strung running shoes in October 2020. Unlike traditional woven or knitted materials, Strung uses a composite of yarns, each coded and placed by robotic machinery. This process produces a seamless, ultra-lightweight upper that wraps around the foot with no wasted material.
Thousands of precision-engineered threads are positioned according to performance needs. Stronger red threads in the heel, midfoot, and toe-box provide a snug fit and robust support. Softer yellow threads in the forefoot allow for greater flexibility.
Integration with X Crazyfast Performance Features
The Strung upper works with the X Crazyfast’s existing SPEEDFRAME and AEROPLATE technologies, designed to enhance dynamic movement and agility at top speed. The combination aims to deliver fine-tuned performance that surpasses current boot technologies, though testing will confirm real-world results.
Early Adoption by Professional Players
Players including Federico Di Marco, Ferran Torres, and several rising stars across Europe are already wearing the X Crazyfast+ STRUNG.
