adidas X99.1 Ultra-Lightweight Boot Set for Limited Release

The adidas X99.1, the latest iteration of the brand’s ultra-lightweight limited-edition boot series, has been spotted ahead of its official launch. After briefly appearing on international retail sites before being removed, eagle-eyed followers caught a glimpse of two upcoming colorways in this highly anticipated release.

History of the 99g Series

In 2016, adidas originally introduced the 99g boot, releasing just 299 pairs worldwide. Weighing only 99 grams (3.5 ounces), the boot matched its name through extreme lightweight construction. The original model featured a 1mm polyamide outsole to reduce weight while maintaining rigidity, a one-layer PU mesh upper, and a skeleton inner structure for stability and support. A unique stud layout enabled fast movement in all directions.

What’s New with the X99.1

The new X99.1 follows the same limited-collection approach but with a slightly heavier frame and more pairs available globally. The boot has been redesigned as a remake of the adizero F50. While the upper remains very similar, the soleplate has been modified for better on-field performance. The X99.1 uses an ultralight Speedframe outsole—the same soleplate found on the current X19 series—turning it into a 6.5-ounce hybrid with a more durable design, ready for game time.

Colorways

One colorway has been officially listed as Cloud White / Bright Cyan / Shock Pink. A second baby blue colorway was also seen in the early preview.
