This week’s roundup highlights four European stars who have been spotted training or playing in different boot models. Sergio Ramos continues to test alternative brands despite his Nike contract, James Rodríguez returns to the Nemeziz line, Granit Xhaka appears to be moving toward Nike, and Shkodran Mustafi has revived a discontinued Phantom Vision.
Sergio Ramos (Real Madrid CF) – adidas Copa 20.1

Real Madrid’s captain has been seen in several boot styles recently. He previously wore a blacked‑out pair that seemed to be New Balance Tekela boots. Before the LaLiga match against Deportivo Alavés, Ramos trained at Ciudad Deportiva in dark adidas Copa 20.1s with bright orange three stripes. Although Nike still sponsors him and he remains under contract, Ramos has always enjoyed unusual freedom in his boot choice, switching models based on competition and visual effect. His latest moves could be a signal to Nike that he is ready to consider other brands if his conditions are not met.

James Rodríguez (Everton FC) – adidas Nemeziz 19.1

The Colombian has impressed since joining Everton. Known for speed boots, he began with the adidas F50, later moved to the adidas X line, and even wore the X Ghosted. Recently he trained in the adidas Nemeziz 19.1 from the Atmospherick pack, then played his last two competitive matches in the Nemeziz from the Precision to Blur pack. This change does not alter his speed‑oriented style, which relies on dribbling and explosiveness in the final third.

Granit Xhaka (Arsenal FC) – Nike Phantom Venom

The 28‑year‑old Swiss midfielder was long associated with Under Armour, even having exclusive ranges made for him. Recently he switched to adidas boots and then to Nike. He has already played official matches in Nike Phantom Venoms and more recently in a blackout version of the Mercurial Vapor. It appears Xhaka may move permanently to Nike unless another brand offers a more attractive deal.

Shkodran Mustafi (Arsenal FC) – Nike Phantom Vision

Arsenal featured prominently in boot spotting last week because of Granit Xhaka’s switch, Willian’s possible change, and Shkodran Mustafi’s return to a Nike model. Mustafi abandoned his usual boots for the Nike Phantom Vision, a range that was discontinued in favor of the new Phantom GT. Although the Phantom Vision never won over many professionals, the German defender has been training and playing in it recently and appears fully convinced by the boot.
