The Brazilian national team’s new kits are now official. As fans count down the days until the next major international tournaments, a look back at one of football’s all‑time favourite jerseys – that of the five‑time World Cup winners – makes the wait a little more enjoyable. A team with a history packed with unforgettable moments, Brazil’s latest designs pay homage to the iconic 1970 kit.

Nike Football Brazil Jersey
Brazil’s new 2020–21 home and away kits have been officially unveiled, drawing inspiration from the design worn 50 years ago during the 1970 World Cup. That tournament saw a Brazilian manager astonish the world as he led his team to victory. The jersey numbers are derived from the original styles, and the design itself recalls the legendary Pelé and his iconic number 10 on the back.

Brazil 1970
The star‑studded 1970 team – boasting Pelé, Tostão, Gerson, Rivelino and Jairzinho – remains one of the finest sides ever witnessed. Their attractive, elegant and entertaining style of play resembled a choreographed routine worthy of the finest ballet. That World Cup was the first broadcast in colour, prompting the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to dye the kit a much brighter yellow than before. It was also the tournament in which Pelé secured his third World Cup title, having previously triumphed in Sweden (1958) and Chile (1962).

Gustavo Viana, Marketing Director at Nike Brazil, stated: “More than just winning the World Cup in Mexico, the 1970 Brazilian national team and their style of play mean so much more: the genius of that team still resonates on the pitch and in people’s minds. We are honouring the team that pioneered revolutionary ideas ahead of their time. With versatile players who collectively challenged their pre‑established roles. A style of football that would become legendary, ‘Joga Bonito’ at its finest.”

The home jersey is complemented by an away kit that sticks to a more traditional style – blue with green detailing. In terms of design, it retains a classic look. From a technical standpoint, the jersey features Nike’s Vaporknit technology, providing a superb fit, exceptional ventilation and a constant feeling of freshness.

The 2020 Brazil kits are the first to feature the football association’s new logo, unveiled in April 2019, which appears on the premium versions. They will be worn for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and next year’s Copa América. With Neymar Jr, Coutinho, Arthur and Vinicius Jr determined to give their all, Brazil is ready to go for the coveted titles.
