According to the club’s marketing department, the eye-catching design is inspired by the OP ART movement, a 1970s trend that explored optical illusions to capture the attention of younger fans.

The new shirt clearly reflects the club’s new footballing ethos and is made from 100% recycled polyester.

The jersey features a brighter shade of blue, with only a few details—the Nike Swoosh, the letters ‘CFC’ on the back, and the edge of the Chelsea crest—appearing in a more intense yellow. Nike has used recycled polyester in football kit manufacture since 2010, aligning this design with environmental sustainability.
