In a move that extends the club’s influence beyond the pitch, F.C. Copenhagen has teamed up again with adidas Originals to release IN THIS CITY – a 17‑minute fictional short film that explores the intersection of football, art, and identity. The project is a cinematic meditation on belonging, evolution, and the way a city shapes those who live in it.

From Streetwear to Storytelling: The Copenhagen Originals Project
The film follows the launch of the Copenhagen Originals collection in September, which reimagined 1990s Copenhagen through streetwear. IN THIS CITY takes that same nostalgic energy and translates it into narrative, character, and emotion – turning nostalgia into a moving story.

Football as a Background Character: Themes of Community and Resilience
While football does not take centre stage in the traditional sense, it exists as a subtle presence in the background. The themes of the film mirror those of the beautiful game: life has ups and downs, challenges and triumphs, and progress often comes through collective support. For a football club to explore these universal ideas through its own identity is a trailblazing approach.

Capturing 1990s Copenhagen’s Raw Energy
Set against the unpolished streets that inspired both the club’s founding and its enduring mentality, the film channels Copenhagen’s raw 1990s energy – a time defined by contrast, creativity, and unfiltered self‑expression. Produced by Blonde Inc. and directed by Carl Feigenberg, in collaboration with Danish cultural magazine Soundvenue, the short captures the texture and tone of the city with authenticity.

Characters and Narrative: Loyalty, Legacy, and Friendship
Starring Danish musician Emil Mercedes Baadsgaard (known as USSEL), IN THIS CITY follows characters navigating the blurred lines between choice and circumstance. Loyalty, legacy, and friendship are woven into their journeys. As Alfred Lauritzen, Partner & Executive Producer at Blonde Inc., explains: “In This City explores Copenhagen’s originality. It’s a tribute to the city – to those who came before us and those daring to define who they want to become. It captures a feeling many of us recognise – that moment in life when we’ve needed a teammate to get us back on track.”

A Cultural Manifesto, Not a Marketing Exercise
For F.C. Copenhagen, the film is more than a promotional piece. Mads Poulsen Jefsen, the club’s Marketing Director, states: “IN THIS CITY follows the launch of Copenhagen Originals and highlights our connection to the city – its stories, characters, and diversity.” The project aligns with a growing movement of football clubs stepping into creative territories once reserved for fashion houses and filmmakers. The aesthetic – vintage‑inspired styling, grounded storytelling – feels distinctly adidas Originals: classic yet subversive, authentic yet forward‑looking.

Premiere and Significance for Football Culture
Premiering at Park Bio, just a short distance from F.C. Copenhagen’s home at Parken Stadium, the film marks another chapter in the club’s evolution. It positions football as more than a game – as a language through which art, music, and style can speak. By bridging past and present, IN THIS CITY celebrates Copenhagen’s cultural heartbeat and reinforces that football’s creative renaissance is well underway, with F.C. Copenhagen at its centre.
