This guide answers the most common questions about the “In Search of the Goalkeeper of the Future” event. Whether you are a young goalkeeper, a parent, or a coach, find everything you need to know about registration, preparation, event day logistics, and the selection process.

Registration and Eligibility

Can I register for more than one venue?

Yes, each participant can register for as many venues as they like. However, they may attend the casting only once at each venue.

Is there a fee for the event?

No. Participation is completely free of charge for both participants and any accompanying adults. This does not cover additional expenses such as accommodation, food, or transport.

Who can take part?

Anyone under the age of 23 can participate, regardless of whether they are currently registered with a football association or play for a team. Goalkeepers as well as outfield players are welcome.

Can I compete in a higher age category?

Yes, participants may compete in a higher age category if they wish, but never in a lower one.

I made a mistake in my registration details. How can I correct it?

If you entered incorrect information (such as your name), you can rectify it by sending an email explaining the error to the event organisers.

Preparing for the Event

What equipment and clothing should I bring?

Participants must be properly kitted out in goalkeeper kit. Recommended items include a shirt and shorts, socks, boots with rubber studs, and goalkeeper gloves. Optional items such as a tracksuit top, rain jacket, or cap are left to the participant’s discretion.

Where should I wear my race number?

The race number must be visible at all times and worn on the front of the body, preferably on the chest.

How do I collect my race number if I live outside the province?

If you do not live in the same province as the event venue, you do not need to collect your number from the shop beforehand. You must be at the venue by 9:00 am (one hour before the event starts) to collect it, and your participation slot will be assigned by the organisers.

What if I lose my race number?

If you lose your race number, go to the venue at 9:00 am on the day of the event to collect a replacement. You will keep the start time originally allocated to you.

Event Day Logistics

When will I receive the timetable and venue details?

This information will be emailed to all registered participants up to 48 hours before the event begins. Venue details will also be made public on the official website as soon as possible. Each participant’s performance slot will be published 48 hours before the event.

Where will my playing slot be published?

Playing slots will be published on the official website between 24 and 48 hours before the event. An email with the same information will also be sent to each registered participant.

Can parents or accompanying adults be on the pitch?

No. Only goalkeepers are allowed on the pitch. Parents and accompanying adults will have a designated area from which to watch the event.

What happens if it rains or snows?

The event will go ahead as normal unless adverse weather conditions make it impossible to play football. In that case, the organisers reserve the right to cancel.

Are changing rooms available?

Yes, the organisers will provide shared changing rooms for participants to get ready and prepare. After the session, participants can shower. Each participant is responsible for their own belongings; the organisers accept no liability for loss.

Are there separate changing rooms for girls?

Yes, girls will have their own clearly signposted changing rooms. Event staff will be available to assist with any questions.

Selection Process and Results

Who decides which goalkeepers qualify?

A panel of judges will decide. The panel includes goalkeeping coaches from Spain’s top teams, goalkeeping coaches from leading youth academies, and professional goalkeepers (both current and former).

When will I find out if I made it to the second round?

Around 2:00 pm, once all participants have finished their sessions, the judging panel will announce those who have qualified for the afternoon round. The afternoon round begins after the lunch break.

Will all participants’ scores be made public?

No. Only the names of those who qualify for the afternoon round will be announced, including the three winners who will progress to the final round. In the final round, only the winners of each category will be announced.

How many goalkeepers will be in each team?

The number of participants per team is decided by the organisers based on the total number of entrants at each venue.

What ball will be used?

The official ball for the event is the Mussa SP.

Final Stage and Travel

If I am one of the three winners at a venue, when do I go to the final stage?

Winners of the senior category from each venue will be based in Madrid for the final event on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd of June. Winners of the other categories will arrive on the 22nd of June at the final venue in Madrid.

Does the event organisers cover travel costs to Madrid?

No. Each participant is responsible for their own travel costs both to the initial venues and to the final stage. Travel expenses are not covered by the organisers.

Will photos from each venue be published?

Yes, photos of the event will be available on the website and on social media for both participants and spectators.
