Inter Milan have unveiled their new home kit for the 2020-2021 season, paying tribute to the club’s storied history and the city of Milan. After a challenging period, the Nerazzurri are aiming to return to the heights of their golden eras – when legends such as Ronaldo, Álvaro Recoba, and Diego Milito led the team to Champions League glory, Serie A titles, and historic trebles. The new jersey revives the iconic black-and-blue stripes in a contemporary way, blending tradition with modern design.
Design Inspiration: Tribal-Pop and the Biscione
The kit’s most striking feature is its zigzag pattern, which reinterprets the classic vertical stripes. According to Scott Munson, Vice-President of Nike Football Apparel, the design draws from one of Milan’s leading artistic movements. “We’re always working to reinterpret the club’s striped identity. This time, we’ve drawn inspiration from one of Milan’s leading artistic movements,” Munson said. “The zigzag pattern forms the basis of the postmodernist design and also references the Biscione. The result is a striking kit that perfectly complements the club’s unique character.”
The zigzag motif is a nod to the Tribal-Pop art movement that emerged in Milan in the 1980s, while the Biscione – the club’s historic serpent emblem – is subtly incorporated into the pattern.
Key Features of the Kit
Beyond the bold stripes, the jersey includes several white details, such as the Nike logo on the top right and the club’s sponsor. Black side stripes run down the sides, giving the shirt a more aggressive and athletic silhouette. The round neck is designed to be modern and comfortable for players and fans alike.
