The domestic leagues are winding down, which means the start of Euro 2021 is near. This tournament brings together Europe’s best national teams, all aiming to lift the trophy. Despite pandemic restrictions altering the usual celebrations, players and fans are eager for the competition. Italy enters as one of the main contenders, and Puma has designed a new kit for the Azzurri. Here is a look at the home and away jerseys.
New Design for the Azzurri
A Simple Jersey
Rumours circulate about whether adidas will take over after the European Championship or if Italy will stay with Puma. Regardless, the Azzurri will wear Puma at EURO 2021. The new design, however, has not met the high expectations set by last year’s kit. Last season’s jersey featured Renaissance-inspired details and was widely praised. This year, the design is much simpler—so simple, in fact, that many initially mistook it for a training shirt.
Puma has released both home and away kits, identical except for the main colour. The home kit is blue, the away kit white. Both feature the same details: the Puma logo and the national team crest are placed centrally. Below them, the word “Italia” appears between one green and one red stripe, forming the tricolour flag. The sleeves have small differences between the two jerseys.
