Nike Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly IX 'Mbappé' – Comic-Inspired Speed Boots

Nike has unveiled a new signature edition of the Air Zoom Mercurial Superfly IX for Kylian Mbappé, drawing on comic book aesthetics to celebrate the joy of football. The boot combines bold graphic design with performance technology such as a soccer-specific 3/4 Zoom Air unit, a speed cage, and a Vaporposite+ upper.

Design Inspired by Comics

The colourway uses a “Baltic Blue/White” palette, with comic-style graphics across the upper. A sunny-yellow Swoosh features the word “ZOOM” beneath it, while a stylised “Swoosh” sits above an “AIR” inscription. The heel displays a “KM” logo, and yellow accents appear on the Air Zoom unit in the soleplate. The design reflects Mbappé’s personal love of comics and the “pleasure in playing” philosophy behind the boot.

Engineered for Elite Performance

The boot introduces a soccer-specific 3/4 Zoom Air unit for the first time, providing a springy underfoot sensation to support speed and agility.

Traction and Stability

Tri-star studs deliver multidirectional grip for confident changes of direction.
Heel studs assist with braking.
Toe-off centre studs are designed for explosive starts.
A speed cage inside the boot ensures lockdown without adding weight.

Fit and Ball Control

The Flyknit construction wraps the ankle for a secure fit. Nike refined the contour after wear tests involving hundreds of athletes, improving the shape in the toe box and heel area. The Vaporposite+ upper combines a grippy grid mesh with a premium overlay to maintain ball control at high speeds.

Beyond the Boot

For players who prefer a collarless design, the Air Zoom Mercurial Vapor XV variant is also available. Nike is launching a full apparel collection to complement the footwear.
