Lionel Messi is preparing for his sixth and likely final World Cup appearance in 2026. As defending champions, Argentina will look to their captain once more. adidas has designed a special boot for the occasion: the F50 ‘El Último Tango’, drawing inspiration from the F50.6 TUNiT that Messi wore during his first World Cup in 2006.
Design Inspired by 2006 World Cup
Twenty years after his debut, Messi’s new boot merges the classic aesthetic of the 2006 era with modern technology. The colourway “Ivory/Semi Blue/Icey Blue” features a white base with sky blue accents, gold detailing, and stylised ‘claw-like’ Three Stripes that reflect the Argentinian national team colours. The launch was accompanied by a social media post from adidas Football.

Modern Performance Technology
The upper uses a Halocage+ TPU frame for targeted support and a HybridTouch+ outer layer for precise control. These features are designed to meet the high demands of elite performance while keeping the clean look that complements Argentina’s match kit.

A Full Circle Moment
Over his career, Messi has worn countless signature boots, but this release carries added meaning. The design feels like a return to where it all began, and the hope is that he will score in them on the world’s biggest stage.
