Manchester City are aiming to make a strong impression in this season’s UEFA Champions League following a series of commanding results early in the campaign. Although the club surrendered the Premier League crown to Liverpool, they are thoroughly preparing for European success after a resounding 4-0 victory over the newly crowned champions. Kevin De Bruyne’s vision continues to fuel optimism for a City side that remains undefeated in continental competition, while additional contributions come from Raheem Sterling’s explosive attacking runs, Phil Foden’s rising composure in midfield, and standout displays from Riyad Mahrez.

Design Heritage Drawn from Manchester’s Mosaic Tradition
Art, industry, football, music, fashion, noise, and colour define the character of Manchester. The mosaic artworks found throughout the city reflect the club’s identity and its celebration of a richly varied culture. These mosaics have been intertwined with Manchester City’s story for nearly a century, beginning when the original mosaic first appeared at the gates of Maine Road stadium. That legacy continues today, alongside tributes to club legends immortalised as artistic works at the City Football Academy, inspiring the next wave of players.

Mark Kennedy, the creator of the Northern Quarter mosaics and the player portraits at the Academy, explained that he began his artistic journey when the area was neglected, wanting to revitalise it. He crafted Manchester icons using metal plates and ceramic tiles, blending his personal style. With his family being devoted City supporters, he later produced player artworks. Over time, he received commissions from the club and the city, and he feels honoured that Puma has drawn on his art for the new home shirt.

The home jersey takes its visual cues from the distinctive mosaics of Manchester’s northern creative district, honouring a city rich in both football and artistic expression. The shirt incorporates the mosaic pattern in traditional City blue and white, accented with navy trim. It is paired with white shorts and blue socks. The kit is scheduled to make its match debut in the FA Cup semi-final against Arsenal.

A New Partnership Model with Puma
Following the recently forged alliance between Manchester City and Puma Football, chief executive Ferrán Soriano stated that the collaboration “resets the sponsorship model on a global scale, whilst remaining relevant at a local level for all fans around the world”. He added that Puma aligns with City’s ambition to challenge expectations, and the club looks forward to what they consider an innovative partnership.
