New Balance Football has revealed its first boot designs for 2021, building on recent marketing successes including technical sponsorship of AS Roma and signing Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka. The Boston-based brand faces strong competition from rivals with deeper tradition in football, yet this collection offers fresh updates without launching a completely new generation.
New Balance football boots for 2021
The collection does not introduce a new generation or complete update, but it adds interesting new elements. The popular Furon model retains its previous characteristics while presenting a refreshed silhouette through minor design tweaks. The Tekela boots arrive with a slight redesign, giving them a more understated yet elegant look.
New Balance Furon V6+ Pro FG – Bleached Lime Glo
The revamped Furon boots appear in this collection without significant technological changes, yet they remain among the most underrated football boots. The Furon 6+ features FIT WEAVE technology in its upper – a knitted fabric prioritising lightness and comfort. In the central area, the boot includes new features in the ‘sock’ and lacing zone. The sole has 11 triangular studs, with one positioned at the front and centre, oriented differently to provide greater support and stability during sprints, sudden stops, and changes of pace. These speed boots, worn by players such as Tatiana Pinto, come in a “Lime Glo / Citrus Punch” colourway.
New Balance Tekela V3
The major innovation in the Tekela boots is the laceless upper, making this range the brand’s first to adopt the technology. The Tekela V3 features one of the collection’s best colourways – “Cyclone Grey / Bleached Lime Glo / Citrus Punch” – and is designed for all player types. The outsole has a lighter nylon chassis and multi-directional TPU studs, improving traction on firm ground and aiding acceleration.
