Up Close – Nike Phantom GT Elite “Black x Prism”

The Nike Phantom GT Elite “Black x Prism” combines a stealthy black upper with neon accents for a dynamic, clean look. Designed for creative playmakers, this data-driven boot uses Generative Texture (GT) technology to deliver precise touch and control during passing, shooting, and dribbling.

Design and Colorway

This colorway is part of the “Black x Prism” Pack. The addition of neon detailing on a stealth upper creates an incredibly dynamic appearance in a simplistic form. The boots are clean and calculated, ready to stand out when needed most.

Fit and Feel On Foot

Out of the box, the Phantom GT looks like it could be stiff and rigid, but the opposite is true. The boots are comfortable to break in, with padding in the right areas and an upper that molds comfortably around the foot. When a boot can be worn without thinking about it, it fits right.

The Phantom GT is true to size, so there is no need to switch from what you normally wear in the VSN or VNM line-up. There is more space in the forefoot cavity than expected, making it a medium/wide fitting option. Note that this model does not include a Quadfit inner layer like previous Phantom releases.

Generative Texture Upper

According to Nike, the Phantom GT is the most data-driven boot the brand has ever created. Scientists at the Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL) analyzed the angles and intensities with which the ball connects with a boot during play. They created pressure maps and data points to guide the design process.

The Generative Texture uses these digital data sets to help perfect feel on the ball and unleash creative skills. Designers determined how much texture is optimal to avoid excessive grip. The texture is molded directly into the Nike Flyknit upper (rather than affixed on top), preserving a soft, pliable, premium feel without the risk of texture detachment.

Traction and Soleplate

Nike developed a new Hyperquick soleplate and traction system for the Phantom GT. In play, the boot provides a sense of reliability that allows sharp cuts and underfoot control. Trust in the boot is built over time, enabling full performance on multiple surfaces.

The system features a generative chassis with agility studs, designed to be more rigid in the heel for planting. Conical studs are split and altered for quick cuts, complemented by wide rotated chevrons. Together, they aim to combine for the best traction pattern Nike has produced through medial and lateral movements. On FG and AG surfaces, the boot allows playing without distraction or fear of turning the ankle.
