The Nike Phantom GX introduces a totally refreshed design for the silo, shifting focus toward a softer, stickier touch and a more forgiving sole plate. With two distinct versions—a high-top featuring a Dynamic Fit collar and a low-top without—the boot retains the familiar lace cover known as ghost laces, now integrated into the upper for a clean striking surface. Every other component remains identical between the two models.
Upper Construction: Dual-Layer Flyknit with Gripknit
The silhouette closely mirrors that of its predecessor, and Flyknit remains the core material for the upper. However, Nike has applied a two-layer construction: an inner layer that wraps the foot snugly, and an outer layer called Nike Gripknit. This new knit, derived from Flyknit Ultra, blends different yarn types to deliver a soft, comfortable feel along with exceptional grip when controlling the ball.
The upper also features water resistance, ensuring reliable ball feel even in wet or muddy conditions. The resulting touch is not overly aggressive or hard; instead, it offers a sticky sensation that closely resembles the feel of the 2013 Nike Hypervenom.
Sole Plate Redesign for Agility and Comfort
The outsole has been completely reworked. It combines conical studs with laminated, arrow-shaped studs, providing a free, unrestricted feeling during turns and direction changes. Compared to the previous generation, the sole is less aggressive and reactive, which makes the boot more comfortable and flexible—though pure traction is slightly reduced.
