Nike PhantomVNM Released – Designed for Finishers

Nike has unveiled the PhantomVNM, the brand’s latest striker-focused boot, engineered specifically for players who thrive on finishing chances. The bold red colorway marks the first release of the “Game Over” pack and signals the end of the Hypervenom series, which the PhantomVNM replaces.

Next Generation Striker Boot

The PhantomVNM (VNM standing for Venom) is built around feedback from world-class finishers such as USWNT star Alex Morgan and England captain Harry Kane. The boot features a series of textured zones designed to support powerful strikes without sacrificing accuracy. The design philosophy draws on the DNA of the legendary T90 Laser series, bringing a tiered strike element that adds finishing credibility.

Precision PWR Strike Zone

The instep’s Precision PWR strike zone is the standout technical feature. It incorporates 13 blades set at specific angles and ascending heights to help keep the ball down when mishit and to provide bite on contact. This emphasis on controlled power ensures that shots stay on target.

Flyknit Upper and Soleplate

The upper is constructed with a full Flyknit material covered in a layer of Nike skin, which enhances touch and adds durability. A partially hidden lacing system gives players the ability to adjust fit and security. Underfoot, the soleplate draws inspiration from Nike Free technology, offering a flexible feel through the forefoot during quick cuts and directional changes. The HyperReactive 2.0 plate, made famous on the Hypervenom 3, uses a mix of Chevron blades. This iteration features an exposed faceted structure that carries over to the faceted Swoosh.

Insights from Top Finishers

“My finishing is a balance between power and placement,” says Alex Morgan. “It depends where I am in the box, but I’d say my focus is usually 60/40 accuracy versus power.”

Harry Kane adds: “Having a clear mind is critical to being a potent finisher. You’ve got to remember that the next touch on the ball is always the most important. I have to be ready and I need my boots to be ready as well.”

The official release date for the PhantomVNM is set for January 19.
