Maine’s newest professional soccer club has released a third kit that blends outdoor heritage with on-field identity. The Portland Hearts of Pine, in partnership with hummel, have introduced the Blaze Kit—a blaze-orange camouflage jersey that meets safety standards and stands apart in global football.
A Kit That Stands Out, On and Off the Pitch
While camouflage is typically used to blend in, Hearts of Pine have reversed that idea. The custom pattern features over 50 percent blaze orange, hidden heart shapes woven into the design, and a color that is synonymous with Maine’s autumn landscape. The shirt meets outdoor safety requirements, meaning it is functional for forest use as well as match days at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

The Blaze Kit draws its color inspiration from Maine’s traditions. Blaze orange is worn by registered Guides, families traveling rural roads, and sportsmen and women working in the wilderness. For the club, the color represents protection, preservation, and a sense of belonging unique to the state.

Clubs such as St. Pauli, Napoli, and the Japan national team have used camouflage in the past, but none have adopted full blaze orange. Hearts of Pine are the first to do so at this level.
Design Details and Local Partnerships
The launch imagery was captured in Aroostook County and across the 89 percent of Maine covered by forest, placing the kit in its natural environment. The photos reflect the lifestyle of the people who live there: connected to the land, wild, and tied to the seasons.

Small details add meaning to the jersey. The back neck features the club’s Dirigo Heart and the motto “Lead with Your Heart.” An inside collar inscription reads “The Soccer Club of Maine.” The Visit Maine brand appears on the front as part of the club’s partnership with the Maine Office of Tourism, while L.L.Bean, a century-old outdoor outfitter that informed the design process, appears on the sleeve.

Club Momentum and On-Field Debut
This kit release marks another milestone for a club that has quickly built momentum in USL League One. Hearts of Pine sold out their inaugural season, renewed 98 percent of season tickets for 2026, and now maintain a waitlist of over 3,000 people.
The Blaze Kit will make its competitive debut on Saturday, 27 September, when Texoma FC visits Fitzpatrick Stadium. Hearts of Pine will be chasing their eighth straight unbeaten match.

From the forest to the football pitch, Portland Hearts of Pine continue to lead with their heart—and blaze their own trail.
