The latest collaboration between PUMA and Dutch lifestyle label BALR brings a premium football boot with a fashion-forward design. Following last May’s debut by Antoine Griezmann – who scored in the first edition – Leicester City’s James Maddison now serves as the collection’s main ambassador. The partnership unites football culture with cutting-edge streetwear for a stylish on-pitch statement.

What Is the PUMA x BALR Collaboration?
Founded in 2013, BALR is best known for its contemporary fashion, travel gear, and accessories worn by top footballers worldwide. The new capsule collection includes football boots, training gear, and lifestyle apparel that blend performance technology with street-ready aesthetics.
“Football is the dominant cultural influence for millions of people around the world, and the game extends beyond the 90 minutes on the pitch,” said Demy de Zeeuw, BALR’s creative director. “Our collaboration with PUMA is for those who live and breathe football and show just as much style on the pitch as off it.”

Design and Aesthetic of the Puma Future x BALR
The limited-edition Puma Future 6.1 BALR boot features a black, metallic silver, and asphalt colorway. While the silhouette remains true to the standard Future line, the upper undergoes a dramatic visual overhaul. The wavy lines of the previous generation disappear, replaced by a square-patterned design that extends across the boot’s surface.

Technological Features of the Puma Future BALR
Despite its exclusive appearance, the Puma Future x BALR shares the same technology as the standard collections. It is a fully customisable boot that adapts seamlessly to any foot shape, widely regarded as one of the best current-generation boots.
The upper introduces a redesigned NETFIT support system. Compared to the Puma Future 4.1, there is less mesh in the NETFIT area and fewer lace holes – laces are now positioned only where necessary. The woven upper provides a snug fit and enhanced stability. A GripControl Pro layer in groove form is applied to the areas most frequently struck by the ball, improving touch and control.

Lightweight Construction and Traction
Weight reduction is a key focus of the Puma Future line. The boot features a reactive Pebax plate with RapidAgility technology for explosive movement. Stabilising bars across the instep add support, while a combination of laminated and conical studs ensures traction in all conditions, enabling quick multidirectional changes.
The Puma Future 6.1 BALR was released during the challenging year of 2020 as part of the brand’s intent to push performance boundaries.
