Sporting Clube de Portugal, widely known as Sporting CP, ranks among the most historic football clubs in Portugal. It holds the third‑most domestic titles in the country and, together with Benfica and Porto, has never been relegated from the top division. As one of the “Big Three,” the club fuels intense rivalries: matches against Porto are classic encounters, while the Lisbon Derby against Benfica carries deep emotional weight, rooted in the amateur era of Portuguese football.

Design Inspired by Past and Present

The 2020/21 home kit blends the club’s heritage with contemporary style. A promotional video shared across Sporting’s social channels underscored a tribute to former achievements, especially the 1964 European Cup Winners’ Cup – the Lions’ only international trophy – and iconic players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Damas, and Jordão, whose names were among the first printed on the new shirts.

A Century‑Plus of Tradition

To commemorate 114 years of Sporting Lisbon, the men’s and women’s teams jointly unveiled the home strip for the upcoming season. The kit honours the club’s classic identity: green and white horizontal stripes, black shorts, and socks that match the jersey. Supporters will welcome the return of these traditional elements. The design of the goalkeepers’ home kit, however, has not yet been disclosed.

Recent Club Developments

Beyond the kit launch, Sporting CP remains in the headlines. Manager Ruben Amorim’s tactical methods have been discussed in connection with AC Milan, with analysis of how his system could suit the Serie A side. Meanwhile, midfielder Morten Hjulmand completed a move from Sporting to Atlético Madrid, strengthening the Spanish club’s midfield options.
