Umbro's 17-3 Collection Goes Hard For St. Patrick's Day

Umbro has released its 17-3 collection for St. Patrick’s Day, building on last year’s drop with a three‑piece capsule that celebrates Irish culture. The collection arrives under the campaign The Thread That Binds, a project that frames Ireland as a living, shifting cultural force rather than a static symbol.

The 17-3 Jersey: Two Colorways with Celtic Knot Design

The centrepiece of the capsule is the new 17‑3 Jersey, available in traditional green or alternate white jacquard fabric. Both versions carry an all‑over tessellated pattern that fuses the Umbro Double Diamond with the Celtic Knot, creating a design that balances archival references with a modern feel. A textured crest featuring Saint Patrick’s insignia anchors the jersey in heritage, while the flat‑knit collar and sleeve cuffs introduce the orange‑white‑green of the Irish flag.

Track Jacket: 1990s Silhouette with Sport‑Street Appeal

The track jacket channels Umbro’s 1990s DNA with a relaxed, boxy silhouette. It mirrors the jersey’s motif and crest, bridging sport and streetwear with ease. The piece is designed to work equally well in a stadium tunnel or a pub.

17-3 Speciali Trainer: Green Suede with Jacquard Lining

Completing the set is a re‑imagining of the 17‑3 Speciali trainer. Dressed in the capsule’s signature green, the shoe comes in rich suede with a jacquard‑printed sock liner. A white‑and‑orange lateral tab finishes the look.

The Thread That Binds Campaign Featuring Three Creators

Umbro’s The Thread That Binds campaign brings the collection to life through three creators whose stories extend beyond Ireland’s borders yet remain deeply connected to its heritage.

Morgan Bullock

Morgan Bullock, the African American dancer whose Irish dance performances in unexpected settings gained widespread attention, opens the campaign. Shot on Venice Beach, she wears the 17‑3 Jersey while blending Irish tradition with a global, contemporary rhythm.

Rejjie Snow

Rejjie Snow, one of Ireland’s most innovative artistic exports, appears next. Against the volcanic emptiness of Iceland, he honours the Irish tradition of the limerick, with the 17‑3 Jersey referencing his Dublin roots.

Sean Atmos

Sean Atmos, the Dublin‑born multidisciplinary artist whose colour‑blocked abstract handwriting energises the campaign, completes the trilogy.

A Love Letter to the Irish Community

“This collection is a love letter to the Irish community,” explained Helene Hope, Head of Global Brand Marketing at Umbro. “A community and culture with which Umbro has a long affinity. Using Umbro’s contemporary design language to weave together archival nods with Irish iconography has resulted in a capsule which looks to the future, whilst honouring the past.”
