Abloh sees the Mercurial lineage as one of sport’s most dynamic product lines, filled with great storylines from the players who have worn it. His contribution to the modern game focuses on a specific connection: “For this Mercurial, I was interested in bridging the gap between foot and eye coordination.”
The designer also considers the visual impact on the pitch: “Design is a powerful tool, as it communicates energy and a message, and it offers a unique capacity to make someone do a double take on-pitch — I feel like it would be intimidating to see this boot.”

The boot’s most distinctive feature is a series of dots across the upper. Each dot represents an optimal strike zone. Abloh explains: “All the dots on the boot represent an optimal place to strike the ball.” The idea serves two purposes: help the wearer recognize where to hit the ball, and present a powerful message to the opposition.

Abloh expects the boot to become a key talking point on the pitch. The combination of visual guidance for the wearer and a bold design for opponents is intended to create an edge. “I feel like it would be intimidating to see this boot,” he says.
Release Details and Limited Availability
Kylian Mbappé will wear a custom Superfly version of this boot on pitch March 31. Limited numbers of the Nike Mercurial Vapor 360 x Virgil Abloh will be available the same day. The boots come in a custom box featuring Abloh’s trademark Off-White branding.
